Power of Future Conversation
Approximately 80% of the average work-related conversation is a rehash of what's already happened --what worked, what didn't, and why. About 15% of the conversation is action based, focusing on what is happening now, and only 5% deals with the future, or the realm of possibility. This program shows how to reframe day-to-day conversations so that breakthroughs can occur.

Power of Future Conversation

Runtime: 18 Minutes
Conversation is a tool that gives leaders the power to translate possibility into action. Contrary to the old saying, talk is not cheap. Conversation is the driving force behind positive change and it is what moves people and organizations into the future.Through this program, based on the work of author and consultant Kim Krisco and his book, Leadership and the Art of Conversation, participants will learn that too many organizations are overly focused on the past. They see that by changing the way in which conversations/meetings are framed, incredible possibilities for the future can become realities.
Six important principles are covered:
- Be aware of conversation and pay close attention to how you speak and listen.
- Don't dwell on past conversations, use them to establish a connection and then move on.
- Be aware of, then manage and change the unspoken conversations that determine the way people see and interpret the world.
- Shift the conversation first from the past to the future, and then to the present.
- Manage your listening and that of others by using affirmative, not reactive, listening.
- Go for a breakthrough.
