Hi, I always enjoy reading what others have to say about personal development.
I myself write on a daily basis on anything that has to do with self improvement and I enjoy it tremendously.

Thanks for the very helpful post!

One point to add is that it may be helpful to work on your goals with like-minded others, so you can share and exchange tips, and help each other along. We've built a site to help people achieve life goals including career goals. Check it out. We'd love your feedback.

Great post! I think No.6 (setting performance not outcome goals) is particularly important in some work contexts as well as the personal one's you've mentioned. Especially if you are working in a team project or your goal is something that you don't have full control over, you need to be clear about what your real achievement will be. Sometimes things are outside of our control...

I recently challenged the idea of SMART goals in a post (http://www.miningman.com/mining-man/2009/11/why-smart-goals-are-not-that-smart.html), and your points here capture the same idea but with greater detail and guidance. Thanks for the tips!
