Workplace Violence: Looking Out for Each Other
Run time: 15 Minutes
This program is designed to alert employees to less newsworthy but very damaging forms of workplace violence, such as threats, intimidation, harassment, bullying and cyber-bullying. These behaviors are often precursors to physical violence and are extremely common--affecting one in four people today.
Workplace Violence: Looking Out for Each Other begins with actual clips of violent incidents that made the news, but it stresses that these incidents represent only a fraction of what violence actually is. Using a variety of scenarios and animated special effects, the program shows that much of workplace violence occurs everyday, often in less extreme forms. After giving a broader definition of violence, the narrator identifies its causes, sources and warning signs. Viewers are advised to look out for each other and immediately report any form of violence--verbal or physical. Both strategies can help prevent workplace violence and help organizations defuse potentially violent situations.
Viewers will learn to:
- Help prevent violence by looking out for each other.
- Identify the sources and causes of workplace violence.
- Understand the impact of violence on morale and productivity.
- Spot warning signs, including the types of threats.
- Defuse potentially violent situations through compromise, collaboration and avoidance.
- Report potentially violent incidents before they escalate.
