Four Generations: The Greatest Potential

Run time: 22 Minutes

By explaining the dynamics involved with the different mindsets, attitude and approaches of an age-diverse workforce
-- and how they generate misunderstandings and heated discussions -- this program helps traditionalists, baby boomers, generation X'ers, and generation Y'ers in your organization bridge the generation gap to help improve relationships critical to business and personal growth.

Profiles of each generation's attitudes, mindsets and values will help your employees:
  • Understand and empathize with colleagues from a different generation.
  • Reduce and resolve conflicts and communication problems.
  • Facilitate better teamwork and increase productivity.
  • Recognize and respect each other's value and input.

The program uses several scenarios to show how inter-generational differences are played out in the workplace. One focus is on a conflict of values as two colleagues heatedly discuss to whom they should assign a big, lucrative account. On the one hand is Stuart, a baby-boomer who values Bob's (traditionalist) loyalty to the company and his solid numbers. On the other is Glenda, a generation X'er who prefers Jenny's (generation Y) creativity, street smarts, high figures, and results-driven mindset.

In other re-enactments, Glenda and Jenny illustrate the differences in communication styles; Ted takes Glenda's incessant questioning as disrespectful; and Stuart fails to grasp and disapproves of why an intern applicant inquires about career development, job benefits, and the portability of those perks.

Four Generations: The Greatest Potential steps back to examine each of these situations. A host-narrator explains how each representative of the different generations has a valid point of view. The program ends as the four generations come to a better understanding of one another and resolve their earlier differences.
